The Dark Knight Rises is one long movie featuring yet another brilliant installment to this movie trilogy, that ties all three movies together creating unity and structure that just wasn’t seen in the comic book source material!

If you loved the previous installments of this spectacular franchise as I did, the I have a strong feeling that you’re going to like this just as much. Bane’s relationship to the other films is perfect and his character is brutal, brilliant, and dangerous. This combined with his determination make him an indomitable presence and the Bat has to learn that the hard way as the story takes Bruce back to the simple lesson of “Why do we Fall? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up again.”.

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman was a stroke of casting brilliance as she performs the roll with character nuances that only an actor of her caliber can pull off. She has to be subtle, charming, week, demure and strong all in the same roll and she pulls it off with a style and graceful elegance that make her, in my eyes, the definitive Catwoman against all of the characters previous incarnations. I felt that there was a little bit of a Julie Newmar aesthetic to her that I felt was a nice homage to the era that brought prominence to the character of Batman, even if that show would ruin the appeal of comic books to mainstream media for the the foreseeable future. But that’s a discussion for another time.

There was a lot of moaning and groaning about the announcement of  Anne to play the part in the film and I have to believe that the wining came from ignorance of the scope of her ability. Those that thought she was a poor choice for the part haven’t seen her in anything that she’s done before. My first real exposure to her talent came from the movie Valentine’s Day where she played the roll of Phone Sex Operator. The amount of characters that she had to portray in that single roll sold me on her raw talent as an actor and her natural good looks with raw sex appeal made her such a great choice.

I can’t say enough about her and I have to admit that I think I’m in love with Anne! Love Love Love Love Love!

All of Catwoman’s supporting cast was just great! I f you haven’t seen it, give it a look and support a true artistic masterpiece. This is the kind of film making DC needs for all of it’s characters. That said, I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next year with Superman: The Man of Steel.
