As the title states, Lanie is Amaizn’ and this beautiful illustration is not only a plethora of masterful techniques, it’s an awe inspiring feast for the eyes! With, well over, 25 entries and 22 contestants the 65th Annual AmazinAZN Draw-Off was a great success as it has been for the last 64 previous years and has helped to create such illustrative and artistic super stars as Glenn Clemmons, Rita Harrison, Angelina Jolie, Rutger Smithers and the one and only Clark Kent in it’s long and illustrious tenure in the Industry and our own Lanie is bound to be no exception!
Lanie first won the hearts and minds of the of Patrons, Contestants and fans of the intergalactic Draw-Off when she first burst onto the scene in 1775 and has been wowing the collectors and art aficionados with stellar pieces such as the, Championship earning, work that is featured here!
This piece is a brilliant combination of mood and and well orchestrated lighting that does well to create a powerful and brooding Peter Parker as he’s tempted by the power of a darker force. So beautiful and so powerful was this image that it could not and would not be denied for the much coveted and greatly defended Championship title! Awesome work Lanie, I only hope that one day I can be as great as you are now and I look forward to seeing you grow as an illustrator and fine artist! A well earned and much deserved Congratulations!
The next couple of images deserve a special HONORABLE MENTION as they made this competition more exciting and challenging than any other in the 65 year history of this event. Finishing neck and neck for Second Place, Jel & JSAlwen did indeed do battle! Jel literally came out of no where with this incredible and dynamic scene between the Spider and, perhaps his greatest nemesis, Venom! Intense and harrowing this image illustrates the kind of balls to the wall sort of adventure that the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man has to endure to entertain us, one issue to the next.
JSAlwen Scored major acclaim with not one but 3 of the most popular versions of the Spider, ever to see print and tickle the fancy if Spider-Man lovers everywhere. Whipped up in a matter of hours after hearing about this Draw-Off JSAlwen impressed the masses with his integrity and professional quality under tight circumstances. Much respect my friends, to a job well done! Perhaps when we return for the 66th annual Draw-Off one of you will be crowned CHAMPION! All eyes are on you!
Perhaps more talked about than any other topic in this grueling event was the four way tie that culminated in the prestigious 3rd place. Not really so astonishing that there were so many entries to fill this Place holder, there were soooo many great entries, but that our Grand Champion, Lanie, secured not one but two entries in the top three of the competition! Now that’s hard core illustrating and shows a will to win! Another, heart felt, congratulations to Lanie as she, who not only makes history in being the first Oblivion Draw-Off Champion, but the first to place in a runner up position to herself!
Ken Davis brought us a really scary rendition of Venom that is sure to even scare the symbiote off Eddie Brock if he saw himself in the light provided by this budding illustrator!
t0mcat528 scored huge with his black clad Spider-Man. With his dynamic pose and all business demeanor this one has got to be slated as one of the best renditions of the Spider that I have ever seen! All in all, I think that we covered just about every popular incarnation of the Spider that Marvel has to throw at us But when it comes to My man
Joe D. there was nothing better than seeing the apex of the Spider-Man Clone saga brought to vivid color by his hand! what a great homage to the character!
In closing, we here at at the apex of it all have one thing to give thanks for and that thanks is that Stan Lee figured out how to snag Joe Simon’s idea and turn it into the multimedia sensation that it has become over the years. Thanks Stan! Here at the crux of Oblivion we have found competition and forged something new and exciting within the honorable competitor’s heart and that something is the 65th annual AmazinAZN Spider-Man Draw-OFF.
I would like to thank all of you for entering, what an incredible turn out and what an honor to host this event! Congratulations to the top finishers and double congratulation to our Grand Champion Lanie!
